[Video] World Wetlands Day warns of its deterioration

Wetlands are a key part of the conglomerate of spaces in the Natura 2000 Network, and taking advantage of the celebration of International Day Several organizations have called on the role they play in nature but also a warning about the deterioration they suffer in Spain.

He Wetlands Day commemorates the date on which the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance was adopted (February 2, 1971), known as the "Ramsar" Convention, an intergovernmental treaty to which Spain joined in 1982.

Currently, wetlands of international interest included in the "Ramsar" list are 2,070, covering an area of ​​almost 200 million hectares. Spain contributes to that list 74 "sites" that add up to an area of ​​more than 300,000 hectares; the first areas that were incorporated into it were Doñana Y Daimiel tables.
